A Principal Engineer is required within Development Approvals of the Infrastructure Planning Team to manage and develop a team dealing with infrastructure approvals required for new development through section 38, 184, 219 and 278 processes of the Highways Act (1980). You will provide technical input on the infrastructure matters relating to new development through the planning and delivery processes.
 
You will be responsible for liaising with developers and their consultants to ensure submitted designs comply with the Leicestershire Highway Design Guide, offering guidance and support where necessary so that technical approval can be achieved. You will also be responsible for dealing with Highway Adoption enquiries from a variety of sources and liaising with relevant District and Parish Council's over development related queries and requests.
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • A degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent qualification (e.g. BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering) plus demonstrable experience and evidence of continued learning and development.
  • Experience in representing an organisation at a senior level & working at a senior level in an engineering setting in relation to road adoptions under s38, access works (S184) and Section 278 works.
  • Experience in developing and project managing significant civil engineering or maintenance projects or works programmes including technical approvals, associated legal agreements and statutory processes including preparing project management documents and reporting to project boards.
  • Good knowledge of current highway design standards, construction techniques or maintenance standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to locations across the County as required.
