Policy Officer (Equalities)
We are looking for an enthusiastic, insightful and dedicated person to join a small policy team within the Chief Executive’s department of Leicestershire County Council.
You will have:
• A good understanding and insight into equalities issues around the responsibilities and services of a public sector organisation such as a County Council.
• The ability to work constructively to advise and support the council to improve the accessibility of its services.
• Experience of managing projects and supporting service improvements
• Experience of engaging with people with protected characteristics and building partnerships with community groups.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills to engage with a variety of audiences
• Awareness of the legislative requirements and best practice around equality, including the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Key tasks will include:
• Co-ordinating the implementation of the council’s equalities strategy and action plan
• Supporting and advising senior officers on service equality issues, including equality impact assessments
• Building relationships with community groups and organisations of people with protected characteristics.
