Personal Care Assistant required for up to 32 hours per week, in the Broughton Astley area, to join an existing team of carers. The hours will be Monday to Friday with additional hours available at times of holiday and sickness of other carers.

Self- employed - £13.15 per hour

The role will be to support the lady of the house whilst her husband is out dealing with domestic matters and alongside him and existing carers within the home. Tasks will include assistance with washing, meal/drink preparation, prompting to eat/drink and assist where necessary, assistance with toileting and other related personal care (further information available within the job description below).

It is imperative that you are comfortable with a well behaved family dog and cat. It is anticipated that you will be slowly introduced in to the role by shadowing the current support workers enabling the relationship and trust to be built up.

DBS applicable to this role. Access to a vehicle and a clean current driving licence essential.

The lady requiring support has Alzheimer’s and is now bed/chair-ridden and can exhibit some challenging behaviours associated with the illness so previous care experience is desirable but more important is an understanding of Dementia with empathy on how this impacts on both the individual and their family. The position needs someone who has a patient, gentle encouraging nature, but is strong and determined to support the family to care for her and fulfil her wish to remain at home.

If you feel you have the necessary experience and personal qualities to provide support to both the lady and her husband (to sustain his role as her main carer) then please apply by completing and returning the application form below to the address stated quoting reference number JS472 or via email to dpssrecruitmentline@leics.gov.uk or forward an up to date CV to the email address above quoting reference number JS472.
