JOB PURPOSE:
The work of the team is to provide Permanence through identifying and matching children and adaptors together. This requires taking the lead in securing early permanence by taking responsibility for a child's journey to adoptive placement from the point that adoption is considered to be a potential outcome. The Permanence Social Worker will take lead to ensure that the child is fully prepared and that adopters are well supported by providing all relevant paperwork that gives detailed and robust analysis of the child's predicted needs based on their past experiences. This will inform matching, introduction and placement support. The team supports adopters from point of approval the process of being matched with a child and granting of An Adoption order. The team also provide viability assessments for Long Term Fostering.
           
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Formal Social Work Qualification, BA/MA/DipSW/CSS/CQSW registered HCPC
• Substantial experience of working within Children's Social Care service settings and in the provision of foster or Adoption Care services
• Experience if formulating and implementing childcare plans to promote positive outcomes
• Experience of direct work with children
• Knowledge of relevant existing legislation and in-depth knowledge of fostering/Adoption, National Minimum standards, regulations and guidance
• Knowledge of care planning regulations and guidance
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
• Ability to work in a team and work under pressure
• Ability to analyse structures and systems and to make recommendations about potential improvements
• Have a comprehensive understanding of child development and the impact of childhood abuse
• Commitment to continuous professional development
• Ability to travel when necessary to locations throughout the county
• Ability to work outside normal office hours
• An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and the ability to apply in all situations
• Must be able to perform all duties and tasks of the job with reasonable adjustments where appropriate in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
