Leicestershire County Council is currently looking for a Night care assistant to join Melton Short Breaks and Supported Living services. Melton Short Breaks and Supported Living Services specialise in working with service users with learning disabilities and offers short break services to people living in a family setting.
 
Julie is a support officer here and has been working at the Melton based services for 10 years. Julie came into care work because she wanted to make a difference to service user’s lives – something she feels empowered to do at Melton.

“I enjoy working directly with people we support, empowering them to make their own choices and develop their skills. The needs of the people we support always come first and as a team we are encouraged and supported to take responsibility for developing our own skills. As a support officer I like the variation of working directly with individuals, their families and developing support plans and systems. The team is a good bunch and work well together."

We are currently looking for 2 committed and reliable staff members to join the services at Melton -
 
1x 20 hours per week – On a permanent basis  
1x 20 hours per week - temporary to cover maternity leave until June 2020.
 
The role will be on a shift / rota basis and will cover night working - including weekend’s and bank holidays. We design our rotas for staff to work on alternate weekends.
 
You do not need direct care experience to apply – we will consider any individuals with the right passion and reliability to support our service users with compassion and to help to retain their independence.
 
Joining Melton Short Break and Supported Living Services you will receive;
 
  • £18,426 - £18,795 pro rata– equivalent to £11.93p/h - £12.13p/h inclusive of night enhancements.
  • 24 days of holiday per year, increasing to 29 after 5 year’s continuous service (plus any bank holidays worked).
