An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Working Age Adult Mental Health Team based at Bassett Street, South Wigston for an experienced Mental Health Support Worker to join the team. We are an established friendly team supporting people who are 18 – 65 years old with complex Mental Health issues including, Dementia, Korsakoff Syndrome and people living with drug and alcohol misuse.
 
You will need to be able to work with minimum supervision and be able to use your initiative when faced with challenging situations.
 
Main Duties involve:
• Completing community care assessments under the Care Act 2014
• Mental Capacity assessments
• Safeguarding Adults
• MDT work
• Completing recovery plans
    
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Relevant health/social care qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of experience (as detailed below)
  • Relevant experience (paid employment, training or voluntary sector) working with adults in a social care setting
  • Experience of work with other agencies within a fieldwork environment
  • Knowledge of the needs and issues of adults and carers including ethnic minorities, disability and age issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of the need to undertake need and risk assessments
  • A good understanding of social care organisations and their roles and responsibilities as part of the wider community and voluntary sector
  • Ability to work proactively as a team member to negotiate and implement effective outcomes
  • Ability to work in partnership with carers, colleagues and a variety of external agencies in order to deliver the most effective service
  • Ability to remain up-to-date with social care policy and practice requirements
  • Ability to recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility, and to seek appropriate support, advice and supervision
  • Ability to assess and interpret people-related information in order to prioritise needs
  • Ability to manage a caseload and to set (and work to) clear objectives and plans
  • Ability to undertake direct work with those who access or need the service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with people
  • Able to manage conflict and disagreement and to be appropriately assertive

The post holder will be based at Bassett Street however due to the nature of the role you must have the ability to travel to other areas within the locality areas.
 
We currently have 1 Part-time post 18.5hrs available with the team.
 
The post holder will work Monday to Thursday 8.30 – 5pm and Friday 8.30 – 4.30pm. Part-time hours to be negotiated at interview.
