The Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hard working and experienced individual to join our busy Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.  The role is for maternity cover and will be for a fixed term of 12 months. We are centrally located in Nottingham, close to the local Courts and within easy reach of all transport links in and out of the city.

Working in a very busy multi-disciplinary team you will have responsibility for your own caseload, but you will be expected to provide full support for Lawyers whose focus is predominantly on Housing work. This work includes applying for injunctions, issuing possession cases, advising on homelessness and dealing with various aspects of anti-social behaviour.  Some of these matters may be both politically and financially sensitive.  In conjunction with the team and the relevant stakeholders, it will be your job to represent the Council appropriately in relation to the above matters. There may also be a degree of advocacy work required and the opportunity to provide legal advice/support in respect of other areas of the team's work. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • The ability to work well as part of a team.                           
  • The ability to work on own personal initiative and with minimum supervision, including having a pro-active approach to work.                  
  • A basic understanding of word processing and database programmes.                         
  • Good oral communication skills and in particular the ability to deliver oral reports and submissions.


Fixed term for 12 MONTHS (maternity cover).
 


The salary is £19,171.
