Leicestershire Libraries are at the heart of our communities, providing information and advice, activities to improve wellbeing and develop skills, supporting those seeking employment and sharing a love of reading with people of all ages.
We are looking an experienced operational manager to help lead and advocate for our 16 Council funded Libraries, 35 Community Managed Libraries, Mobile Library Service and Prison Library.
You will have excellent people management skills and a strong track record of effective partnership work, including community partnerships. Alongside experience of leading, or working in, multi-site operations and meeting financial targets, you will have a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This role requires a creative and positive approach and the ability to support teams through periods of change to deliver improved outcomes.
Alongside the Library Resources Manager, and with the support of a committed staff and management team, you will lead Leicestershire's Libraries as we emerge from lockdown and ensure our Libraries are at the forefront of supporting our communities as we start the process of recovery from the pandemic.
As a member of the Communiites and Wellbeing Senior Leadership Team you will also have a role in setting the strategic direction for the wider service which includes Museums and Heritage; Collecitons and Learning, Audience Development and the Adult Learning Service. 

  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent
  • Significant library management experience
  • Experience of implementing and managing complex change
  • Delivering services that provide quality assurance and customer care
  • Implementing inititaves to improves services
  • Current knowledge of key regional agencies and legislation
  • Experience of leading and motivating staff
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide strategic advice
