Closing date:31 January 2020 at midnight

Wanted:  A person who is creative and excited about improving frontline Social Work practice, who is committed to ensuring children and families are 'worked with' and have a say in shaping our services.  Is this you?

In Leicestershire we have a clear vision for children and families and are committed to ensuring that the quality of our services is excellent.  Therefore we have invested in a permanent Practice Excellence Team (PET) to support and grow quality frontline practice across Children's Services.
This is our PET Team:

  • Head of Service who leads on practice excellence and provides leadership on key strands of work
  • Principal Social Worker who provides a pivotal interface between senior managers and practice
  • Signs of Safety and Professional Development Officer who ensures we have a rolling programme of training for our staff as we continue to implement and embed our Signs of Safety practice
  • Two Advanced Practitioners who support our Practitioners to continually develop their practice
  • Three Learning & Improvement Managers whose role is to deliver training, provide consultation for frontline practitioners, help embed learning from a range of quality assurance activities and write Independent Management Reviews (IMRs) following a Child Safeguarding Practice Review
The Learning & Improvement Managers posts work to our Principal Social Worker.  In the PET Team we don't hold cases and have considerable autonomy on how we deliver to Leicestershire's Strategic plan 'Road to Excellence'.
You must be registered with Social Work England, have substantial experience of working in Children's Social Care and have a strong understanding of the interventions required to reduce risk and protect children from harm.  The ideal candidate would have knowledge of the various elements of using Signs of Safety in practice.
We want people who have considerable experience in frontline practice, who have used quality assurance to drive practice development and service improvement.
