Salary Range: £24,801 - £26,925 pa
A role has become available for an Inspection & Enforcement Officer within the busy Highway Control team, Highways Delivery. The role is to ensure highway inspections are carried out within the timeframe as defined in the Code of Practice, enforcing, where required, the Highway Act and environmental issues that relate to the highway. To ensure the integrity of the highway boundary and respond effectively.
Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
• Dealing with customer enquiries and enforcement issues which are problematic and need specific attention, ensuring identified protocols are followed, keeping records to track enquiries and complaints, and complying with performance targets.
• Carry out condition inspections of public highway in accordance with local arrangements, timeframes and other policy requirements.
• Recording all condition surveys through Confirm, ensuring accurate detail is recorded about traffic management, and known risks associated with the job or fix requested.
• Provide support and advice regarding the Highways Act and Environmental Protection Act.
• Highlight and prioritise defect areas where road deterioration now requires further action.
• Good standard of education including English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent).
• Full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Experience of successfully resolving conflict situations.
• Knowledge of using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services.
• Good verbal and written communication skills. Being able to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
• You remain calm and positive in challenging circumstances. You respond confidently to customers and colleagues with understanding and diplomacy whilst maintaining an objective and professional stance.
