The Finance Operations team supports in the delivery of the finance service for the Children and Family Services disabled children’s direct payments and Adults and Communities adult social care payments and debt collection.  We have up to 1 full time equivalent (FTE) Finance Support Assistants grade 6 vacancy, which is part of a large progressive and diverse team, who will work in a fast paced and modern finance environment to enable the collection of £56m of social care income for 6000 Service Users, and £160m of expenditure per annum with 500 Providers. Effectively the Finance Operations team integrate people, technology and robust processes, to focus on our customer’s financial needs to drive our performance and we take pride in delivering a quality service.             
The vacant post is in the Debt Resolution Team who works in an environment using Target driven performance to collect Adult Social Care debt due to the council.
We are looking for staff, who like being part of a vibrant team and enjoy working in a fast-paced financial environment serving the citizens of Leicestershire. Being customer focussed, understanding the fundamentals of finance, you will have experience of working in a debt recovery environment and you will be motivated to deliver change and strive within a performance management culture.  This post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience and understanding of Local Government Finance by being a member of Corporate Resources, working with key stakeholders and partners across all levels.          
  • Experience of working with computerised financial systems and good knowledge of MS word and Excel, along with attention to detail and an understanding of financial control within processes with an ability to demonstrate experience of debt recovery procedures and data management
  • Communicate effectively in writing, face to face and by telephone plus efficient planning of work and effective time management skills with a commitment to customer services
  • Work within a very busy working environment and work under pressure, prioritising work to meet tight deadlines
  • Respond quickly to change and the introduction of new processes as the service expands
