The starting salary is £47,540 (Level One) rising to £49,482 (Level Two) on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period (pro rata for part time workers)

  • A thorough and sophisticated understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues and how they impact on different sections of the community while working to ensure their needs are reflected in work outcomes.
  • A thorough knowledge and in depth understanding of current policies, priorities and pressures relating to local, regional and national government, across a broad range of subjects, including the decision making process in local government.
  • Experience of leading and managing the delivery of an effective service, including human resources, with a sophisticated understanding of change management and experience in delivering and managing complex change projects.
  • Ability to commission and research to provide clear, concise written and verbal communications and presentations, often around sensitive and confidential issues, that effectively convey complex information and assist robust decision making.
  • Experience of advising, supporting and influencing elected councillors and senior officers/executive to secure positive outcomes, demonstrate thorough understanding of the sensitivities of working in a political environment.
  • Ability to work in partnership with colleagues and external partners, including the necessary communication, negotiation and influencing skills to develop effective collaborative working to advance the development of Nottingham and the Council’s community leadership role.
