Assistant Engineer – Structures
Salary Details: Grade 11 (£31,464 - £33,972pa)
An exciting role has become available for a bridge engineer within the busy Structures team who manage over 700 highway bridges and other highway-related assets across the county. 
Job Purpose: The post holder will play a key part in the structural design, construction, maintenance, strengthening and general management of highway structures and other civil engineering projects.
Activities will include:
• Assist with the design, analysis, assessment, maintenance and strengthening of highway structures to ensure that they meet current standards and maintains structural integrity
• Adopt asset management principles as part of project delivery; including lifecycle planning and whole life costing as part of estimating
• Assist with the preparation of all documentation required to achieve Technical Approval for works relevant to highway structures
• Assist with providing a structural design service to various Departments within the County Council, complying with current standards and whole life costing principles and liaising with client groups
• Assist the Senior Engineer in the management of project teams, to ensure the effective and efficient provision of appropriate customer focused, high quality services in accordance with County Council policies, Government and legislative requirement.
Assist with providing a structural design check service for developers and the like as part of the County Council’s Technical Approval role.
