Salary:£21,591 - Pro-Rata 

Appointment Type:Permanent 

Location:County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, Leicestershire, Le3 8ra 


Closing date:04 August 2019 at midnight 

  • To provide a package of portage home visits to very young children and their carers
  • To keep records as required by the Portage Manager
  • To promote the education and development of children under 5 years with special educational needs
  • To implement the programme of support devised by the specialist SEND advisor
  • Training course for portage Home Visitors recognised by the National Portage Association or willingness to undertake the relevant training
  • level 3 in childcare equivalent
  • Substantial experience with working families and children who have SEND
  • Experience of collaborative working within a partnership context with external agencies to enhance SEND
  • Experience of having worked with children under 5
  • Knowledge of child development up to the age of 5
  • Knowledge of a range of special educational needs
  • Knowledge of the SEND code of practice and Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To have good personal organisational skills i.e. time mangement
  • Ability to relate to parents/carers who maybe under considerable stress
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, coupled with good listening skills
  • Ability to take responsibility for meeting deadlines adjusting tasks and priorities as situations demand
  • A flexible approach to working, including out-of-hours and an ability and willingness to travel to various locations
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Equality and Diversity and the ability to apply this to strategic work and day-to day situations
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions ff the Equality Act 2010
