Do you have a passion for providing first class, person-centred care? We have a full-time, 12-month fixed term position available as a Community Enablement Worker in the Working Age Disability Team Hinckley. The Working Age Disability Team provide a service to adults aged 18 – 65yrs completing care and support assessments and reviews. The team provide services to those living in the Hinckley locality. 
As a Community Enablement Worker, you will be required to provide enablement support to maximise people's independence to deliver agreed, goal-focused outcomes. You will need to have a passion for promoting people's independence, choice and quality of life by providing short-term support to help people regain skills and confidence enabling people to do as much as they can, for themselves.
You will aim to support people following a period of illness, disability or loss of self-confidence. The service is also designed to support service users to remain living safely in their own homes in the community.
You will work under supervision to deliver a high quality, person-centred accountable statutory social care service, ensuring that adults aged 18 -65yrs, their families and carers; are able to find their own solutions, assess, manage and review their own needs, risks, to maximise their own independence and self-directed responses to deliver agreed outcomes.
You will work closely with social workers, community support workers and occupational therapists to ensure each adult has the best chance to access community opportunities including; adult learning, paid employment and/or volunteering.
You will need to be able to work with minimum supervision and be able to use your initiative when faced with challenging situations.
Main Duties involve:
  • Working in a person-centred way to plan with individuals and the key people in their lives.  To assess their independence needs and identify the goals and outcomes to be achieved.
  • Direct work with service users, their families, carers and working alongside other agencies.
  • Working with individuals to explore a range of community options which may include access to employment, voluntary opportunities, recreational/social pursuits, community activities and cultural or spiritual activities.
  • Enabling individuals to promote independence and support with agreed goal delivery in a range of areas which may include supporting the person in a variety of community settings.  
  • Relevant health/social care qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and / or equivalent relevant experience
  • Relevant experience (paid employment, training or voluntary sector) working with adults with mental health conditions in a social care setting.
  • Experience of working with other agencies
  • Experience of prioritising, working to timescales and working in a consistent way
  • Experience of administrative procedures including the use of computers

The post holder will be based at Hinckley Hub however due to the nature of the role you must have the ability to travel to other areas within the locality area.
We currently have 1 x 12-month fixed term position available.
The post holders will work Monday to Thursday 8.30 – 5pm and Friday 8.30 – 4.30pm.
