Working Hours: Full Time , Hours per week - 37

Appointment Type:Permanent

Location:County Hall, Glenfield, England, LE3 8RA

Closing date:21 October 2020 at midnight

This is a Politically Restricted vacancy

Tackling a heath pandemic, transforming lives and delivering value for money – just a snapshot of our current priorities. And by recruiting an ever-growing army of foster carers, attracting companies to set up in our business parks – generating income for vital services, ensuring new homes and jobs are created in the right place and moving towards becoming a carbon-neutral council by 2030, we’re seeing results.
But there’s still work to do, including supporting the delivery of new homes and infrastructure and managing growth. To help with this challenge, we’re looking for a media and communications professional who can create compelling content for press, broadcast and trade media.
Our media, communications and digital team is responsible for:
  • Proactive media relations – telling the council’s story – and running a traditional press desk, managing journalists’ queries and helping to manage the council’s reputation
  • Social and commercial marketing campaigns
  • Engaging stakeholders, staff and managers
  • Creative design for print, digital, social and video
  • Customer-focused digital services
As a member of our busy team, you will bring your professional expertise to a range of communications activities. We’re looking for someone with experience in a press office or media environment, with an eye for a story and a grasp of print, broadcast, digital and social media.
Are you right for the job? We ask all our team members to:
• Be original – crafting compelling content and striving to explore new ideas and better ways to achieve our aims
• Always place our audiences at the heart of your work
• Be responsible for the council’s reputation and always act in its best interests
• Be responsible for the council’s money – acting in a business-like way
• Be positive, flexible and open to new ideas and ways of working
• Be determined and able to face challenges head-on - and work collaboratively with a broad range of services across the council - influencing people to get results
If you’re keen to find out more, please read the job description and person specification.  The job's main base would normally be County Hall in Glenfield, but the team are working remotely for the forseeable future.
