Salary Range: £27,936 - £31,377 
This is an opportunity to lead a small team responsible for the assessment and delivery of safe, effective and legally compliant school transport services; including for children with special needs and disabilities.
The successful candidate will take a lead role with other Senior Managers in developing, implementing and updating policy, processes and systems (including IT) for home to school transport as well as ensuring delivery of the day to day business. The team assess entitlement to home to school transport for over 16,500 pupils annually.
You will be required to plan and lead the annual delivery of school transport functions for the Transport Operations Service and you will oversee staff processing transport eligibility checks and will resolve complex case issues and complaints. You must also be able to prepare and deliver home to school transport appeals (including written responses and representing the Council at panel hearings) and advise customers in accordance with service policies and legalisation.

• You must have experience of use IT and specifically Microsoft Office applications (in particular Word, Excel and preferably Access), including being able to interpret and produce written reports and correspondence to a high standard
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written including dealing with difficult conversations demonstrating tact, diplomacy and assertiveness.
• You will have a high level of analytical ability and attention to detail, especially in the analysis/interpretation of specialist information/data (qualitative and quantitative). Similarly, you must be able to develop and implement efficient business processes and policies.
• Able to lead and inspire a small team effectively offering appropriate support and advice.
• You must also be able to work well within a team, working to tight deadlines with minimal supervision and prioritise your own workload.
