An exciting opportunity has arisen in School Admissions and Pupil Services in the School Appeals Team.
      
The post will be primarily to support the Appeals Team in preparing appeal documentation for hearings. In addition you may from time to time be required to provide associated support for other aspects of work within the Admissions and Pupil Services.
      
You must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and experience of complex scheduling, liaising with other agencies and the public.
      
JOB PURPOSE 
  • To prepare school appeal documentation bundles for Appeal Manager, Appeal Panels and to dispatch to Parents to ensure full disclosure
  • To interpret School Admissions Code to ensure the parent has the right of appeal, to be able to interpret the School Appeals Code to ensure appeal documentation is compliant and remains up-to-date. 
  • To liaise with schools, legal services, SENA, Inclusion and DfE concerning school appeals
  • To assist and support Appeals Manager during appeals 
  
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Education to GCSE ‘C’ or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics or Equivalent NVQ level in administration
  • OR Relevant and substantial work experience in a customer facing role 
  • Demonstrable experience of preparing complex information to statutory requirements 
  • Able to evidence excellent customer care
  • Working in a customer front line facing environment or people orientated role
  • Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving statistical data to meet organisational and customer needs.
  • Demonstrable experience of interpreting complex written information when preparing appeal bundles
  • Experience of working effectively and confidently as part of a team
  • Experience of working in an environment of confidentiality and security of sensitive information is required
  • Experience of working within statutory frameworks and legal deadlines 
  • Ability to interpret and analyse information and accurately maintain and collate statistical data using Excel 
  • Ability to present accurate information clearly, both written and orally
  • Ability to communicate positively both orally and in writing, including good verbal communication on the telephone
  • Evidence of working with computer systems to input, store and retrieve data routinely
  • Ability to respond flexibly to changing demands
  • Evidence of good organisational skills and of administrative processes and systems
  • Evidence of understanding and appreciation of confidentiality and security
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and local policy related to this post
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the requirements of the Data Protection Act and GDPR
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, coupled with good listening skills
  • Have a range of general numerical skills
  • The ability to take responsibility for meeting challenging deadlines adjusting tasks and priorities as situations demand
  • Evidence of being able to work collaboratively within a team with the ability to support colleagues and seniors
  • Have a mature empathetic approach when communicating with distressed and up-set parents, coupled with outstanding listening skills and a strong customer focus
  • Able to deal with professional colleagues in a tactful and helpful manner
  • Ability to display care and concern when dealing sensitive and confidential matters
  • An understanding of and be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
  • Evidence of a good attendance record and punctuality
  • Self-motivated,able to work under own initiative
  • Able to work to tight timescales
