Working Hours: Part Time , Hours per week - 22

Salary:£34,337 - Pro-Rata

Appointment Type:Permanent

Location:Leicestershire County Council, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicestershire, LE3 8RA

Closing date:18 March 2018 at midnight

At Leicestershire County Council we are committed to doing our best for children and families. We want children and families to thrive and flourish and are prepared to go the extra mile to help them become the best they can be. In every part of our business, we are relentlessly focused on positive outcomes and we have the drive and enthusiasm to achieve our ambition.
We are currently looking to recruit to a number of social work posts across the social work teams which include our First Response Children’s Duty Team, Child Protection Teams, family Placement teams and our Child in Need teams (Strengthening Families). If any of these roles interest you we would like to hear from you. We are looking for high calibre individuals to join us on our ‘road to excellence’.
Our salaries are competitive but we know from our own staff that there are other reasons to come to Leicestershire:
  • You will be well led by experienced managers within stable and strong teams
  • We have a strong senior management team who are committed to creating a positive working environment for all workers and are striving to build an organisational culture based on learning and growth.
  • With an explicit practice framework to guide your work with families in Leicestershire, you will quickly understand the culture and ethos we are creating. We have adopted the Signs of Safety practice model and this approach supports our values of partnership and working with others.
  • Leicestershire has a strong child’s voice strategy and our practice methodology ensures this aspect of our work is prioritised.
  • We have a refreshed ASYE programme as well as a comprehensive learning offer for social workers at all levels to ensure that their on-going learning and development is linked to the knowledge and skills statements.
  • All teams have regular time to learn together each month and we are building a new ‘practice excellence’ team led by our principal social worker who will support teams to reflect and learn together.
  • Individual CPD is prioritised – with an additional 3 days given to social workers to support their professional development over and above any formal training they access.
  • With experienced people around you will receive regular individual and group supervision to provide both support and challenge.
  • Additional funding has seen increased capacity in social work teams making workloads manageable and ensuring all social workers have the equipment they need.
  • As your career progresses we support workers to take up placements in other teams to get a good breadth of experience.
  • We will support you to take students and become a coach and mentor for others – we want you to be part of creating the culture we want and this experience is key.
  • Genuine recognition and acknowledgement for your efforts and accomplishments from senior managers.
  • Three internal staff conferences each year to showcase good practice and explore challenges of practice.
Additionally, there are a range of corporate benefits including:
  • Child care vouchers
  • Well regarded employee counselling services
  • Free car parking
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Option to purchase of additional leave
  • Discounts at high-street stores and supermarket shopping
  • Special offers on leisure activities and gym memberships
