HM Coroner's Service for North Leicestershire and Rutland is looking for an Administrative Officer to assist in the day to day running of the service in Loughborough.  
The Coroner investigates the circumstances in sudden, unexplained and unnatural deaths and decides if a post mortem or inquest is to be held. The Coroner's officer team support the Coroner in their work and provide management services and systems to allow cases to progress.
This post is one of the team members that will work with the Coroner's officers to provide a first line of contact for service users, families and other callers on the telephone, in person or by email.
The postholder will also carry out basic casework (such as uploading cases to the case management system and items of evidence pertinent to that case) and other general administrative duties.
They will also act as the usher when the Coroner's court is in session to ensure that cases run smoothly (for example ensuring attendees are in the right place at the right time and the sound recording system is deployed)
The Coroner's service is a demand led service and may experience unpredictable, high volumes of work.  The postholder will be subject to exposure to graphic and traumatic images of death.
Interviews for this post will be held on 1st and 2nd October 2019.
• Substantial experience of dealing with the public face to face or on the telephone
• Dealing with people who may be distressed or angry
• Working as part of a team
• Knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft Office products
• The ability to converse in spoken English and display confidence when speaking with all service users (members of the public, medical professions, police, legal profession and HM Coroner)
• Able to display empathy to distressed service users
• Organised, methodical and able to prioritise workloads when priorities change
• Good attention to detail and good standard of spelling
• Able to display resilience when viewing traumatic and graphic images of death
