Advanced  Lifeskills is a licensed universal, preventative approach that delivers specific skills through teaching, facilitation and discussion to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors. LifeSkills is a universal programme designed for whole-class, in school delivery.
Initial Location of Post: You will be in an initial team of 3 co-ordinators. You will work from Barnardo's Leicestershire office base at Blaby being regularly required to work throughout Leicestershire, delivering the programme into schools and supporting schools to deliver the programme themselves where this is the most appropriate option.
Objectives of Service
Through this Children's Innovation Partnership the Dr Botvin Lifeskills programme will be delivered by Barnardo's Lifeskills Programme Co-ordinators linking key individuals, groups and organisations in Leicestershire working as part of youth violence agenda
Initial Specific Responsibilities
  • To co-ordinate, directly deliver and support LifeSkills service delivery in schools across Leicestershire
  • To promote PSHE within secondary school setting
  • To collate data and provide impact reports for current schools
Supplementary Information
  • The post holder must be a qualified teacher, youth worker or social worker. This adheres to the permissions agreement with the Lifeskills programme developer, Dr.Botvin
  • Experience of teaching within the primary or secondary school setting is essential
  • Experience of delivering programmes either in the school setting or within the voluntary sector is essential
  • Experience of evidence based programmes and their implementation is desirable
  • Fixed Term to 31 January 2022
  • 2 years initially with the potential for a further year's extension.
